Banking & Finance
Since accession to the EU, the Croatian market has become more attractive for new investments and projects. The development of infrastructure and transport has been designated as one of the primary policy objectives of the Croatian Administration in the forthcoming period. Energy security policy drivers will lead to accelerated investments into energy infrastructure.
Our banking and finance team focuses on advising clients in connection with asset finance, corporate lending, structured finance, leveraged and acquisition finance, project finance, real estate finance, commodities and export finance, and local tax issues in project finance
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the legislative framework for bankruptcy and pre-bankruptcy financial restructuring in recent years has changed dramatically on several occasions, causing distressed businesses to seek optimal financing arrangements through the maze of pre-bankruptcy settlement proceedings. Issues such as bankruptcy and pre-bankruptcy restructuring regimes require skilled legal counselling and can make a difference when it comes to the quality of financial structuring of projects and businesses.
Our team also advises clients in financial restructurings, as well as in NPL transactions. In the realm of NPL deals, our team supports our clients in due diligence, drafting and negotiating LSPA, and servicing agreements, and is capable of providing post-closing support.
Apart from transaction work, our banking team also advises on regulatory aspects of banking.
We represent our clients, either lenders or borrowers/guarantors, at all stages of a financial transaction. We act as local or lead counsel from negotiation and perfection of local law security documents to negotiating, signing, and closing LMA-standard facility agreements adjusted to Croatian law.
